As a democratic union, VEA operates in accordance with our Bylaws. On points of policy and practice not addressed in the Bylaws, VEA operates in accordance with our Standing Rules, Policies, and Procedures Manual. Current copies of these documents can be found here:
VEA’s governing documents are “living documents” both in the sense that they are regularly reviewed and updated by members (amendments to the Bylaws require a membership vote) and/or the Representative Council (amendments to the Standing Rules, Policies, and Procedures Manual require formal approval by the Representative Council), and in the sense that the VEA Executive Board and VEA Representative Council consider both their letter and their spirit when interpreting and applying them to the novel situations that constantly arise as we perform our work as a union.
